The most common causes of this issue are: You can't isolate your vocals the EyeToy feed and effects look pretty crappy if you're going to be alone a lot of the time, there's not much single-player action to speak of, and so one.Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Too+close!+Too+close! But, like I said already, these great songs come with the same problems we've talked about before. There are oldies such as Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World," power ballads such as "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and the greatest song ever recorded "Just a Friend" by Biz Markie. Thankfully, that's exactly what SingStar Legends does.
#SINGSTAR FOR WII PS2#
Sure, I'd love to be able to turn off the original artist's vocals like I can in Karaoke Revolution or the SingStars on PlayStation 3, but I can get over it as long as every one of these PS2 SingStar discs is bringing something new to the table when it comes to tunes. Still, when you get down to it, SingStar's not about looks it's about sound.
#SINGSTAR FOR WII TV#
See, with the PlayStation 2 slowly withering up and croaking before my eyes, each SingStar seems a bit fuzzier on my HD TV and a bit more featureless. Seriously - Patsy Cline? Ray Charles? The love song from Ghost? Literally every song on here is one you've heard and - if you're a normal human being - loved. Whitney Houston - "I'm Your Baby Tonight" Tina Turner - "What's Love Got To Do With It?" The Rolling Stones - "Sympathy For The Devil" The Righteous Brothers - "Unchained Melody" Michael McDonald - "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)"īonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse Of The Heart"ĭusty Springfield - "Son Of A Preacher Man"Įlla Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off" See, the friends amplify the experience because SingStar is a multiplayer-focused game (there's nothing to do but sing for the high score), the EyeToy can play the live feed of your living room behind the pitch and timing bars so you can see what a fool you and your friends look like, and the music in this version is a truly a legendary compilation.īarry White - "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" To really get this game, you have to gather your friends, grab and EyeToy, and let loose with the likes of Madonna, Marvin Gaye, and Nirvana. Of course, that's the most basic version of what SingStar is. Suck, and the game will call it "awful." In the end, your points are tallied and you're giving a rating that ranges from Tone Deaf to SingStar. Nail it, and the game will describe your last line as "cool" while giving you points. Your job is to match your color with these bars - you want to paint these pitch and timing bars. As that's going on, you'll notice blank bars on the screen. If you're singing high, the color appears high on the screen. As those words light up, you sing'em and your voice makes a color on the screen. Players pick what they want to sing on easy, medium, or hard difficulties, and then the words of whatever song they picked begin appearing at the bottom of the screen while the music video for the track plays behind it. Now, singing in SingStar is about as easy or hard as it sounds.

You can sing by yourself duet with a friend battle with a friend or host an up to eight-player, two-team sing off known as Pass the Mic where you guys toss the mics between teammates in an array of goofy challenges. Like every SingStar before it, Legends will present you with several modes to take 30 songs and six medleys into (don't worry, the track list is below and none of your favorites have to be unlocked or anything). You shouldn't do that because it would threaten my job security, but I'm just putting it out there to make a point.Īnyway, if you're a SingStar nut, you'll be happy to know that Legends has assembled a quality track list that's worthy of its lofty title.

That means, you could pretty much look at one of my old reviews, imagine whatever the new songs are, and whip up a hypothetical review. Each one of these SingStars keeps the same tried-and-true format and basically subs in the new disc's songs. It's fun, but there's really only so much to say. I pop it in my PlayStation 2, crank up the volume, and annoy the IGN offices to no end with my lackluster singing and such. Every so often, a new disc is released - SingStar Legends marks the seventh go 'round if you include SingStar Country, which releases on the same day - and I get the enviable job of reviewing it. Here's the thing about SingStar on the PlayStation 2.
